Prior to placement, we carry out our own risk assessment based on the referral information from the local authority to determine whether the parent(s) and child(ren) are suitably matched with the other parents and children within the unit. Staff receive regular mandatory and complementary training and supervision; weekly risk management meetings are held with all staff ensuring that any risk or changes in the parent(s)’ or child(ren)’s behaviour are observed and managed effectively.
Risks are often identified as being vulnerable to exploitation, gang involvement, domestic abuse, substance misuse, bullying, cyberbullying or as simple as lack of parenting ability.
Where there is a need to amend the current package due to new or reduced risks highlighted, a decision made in consultation with relevant stakeholders as to what amendment if any, should be made to the current care plan to manage the changed risk.
This information is shared with relevant stakeholders.
